Wow, us here in Wal-Mart country are gonna get to see a fined-tuned road machine in the likes of MSU tonight.
This is at 1st glance a no-brainer on laying the chalk. MSU wipped the Hogs earlier by 18 at home. Unbelievable road record for state, 9-0 so far, 9-0 ats!! They are 9-1 in conf. play, and just about every statistic favors them here. Hogs are 9-3 at home, but in SEC only 3-8, though possing a lot of talent, just a young and fairly inexperienced squad.....well here comes some experience!!!!
Can Ark contain the play of jr. forward, Roberts who ave. 17.1 ppg, or the 2 shooting guards who combine for 28 ppg? Doubtful. Can the road machine be stopped? Hard to bet against!????
Well hold on for a moment, one stat to consider is this......
MSU is 0-12 at Arkansas since the Hogs joined SEC in 1992. In fact the last time st. won here was during '70-'71 season!
Also Coach Stansbury(state) said the following, "It's going to be a tough turnaround going back out there on the raod again after the overtime win at SC. We left a lot physically and mentally in that overtime win. We've got to find a way to here to regroup quickly."
My take is the line is about right.
State should be about a 10-12 pt. fav. But factor in the 0-fer at Ark and the overtime drain/back-to-back road, and the line reflects that.
State is really awesome this year and I have yet to bet against. Ark has show moments of brilliance, particularily in the upset here of Vandy couple weeks ago. Hogs will have the emotion and history on their side.
They will also have to play a near-perfect game to stay close.
I will be at the game, knowing we really don't have much of a chance, but to make things interesting I will lay a few bucks on the HOG ML just in case HISTORY decides to repeat itself!!
